PHILOSOPHY AND THEORETICAL ORIENTATION

The Counselling and Care Centre’s training programmes are targeted at equipping and developing social service practitioners’ clinical skills, with much emphasis on integrating theory into practice.  They are designed and conducted with the intent of making the learning applicable and adaptable to the participants’ context of practice.  Being systemic in orientation, Counselling and Care Centre adopts the view of training as a two-way process whereby trainers and participants teach and learn through their mutual interaction.

The Training Service of the Centre is registered with the Committee of Private Education (CPE), Skillsfuture SG as a private educational institute (PEI).

The Management Committee members are PEI Managers and their duties are to manage and oversee the functions of the PEI.

ACADEMIC AND EXAMINATION BOARD

The Academic Board is responsible to develop and review academic policies and procedures that will uphold the standard of the academic quality and vigour. The Examination Board is responsible for the development of examination and assessment procedures, handles and decides on the students’ appeals with regards to results and assessment matters.

TEACHERS

The Teachers are known as Trainers and Supervisors of all training courses at the Centre. Approved Supervisor and Clinical Fellow for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy

FACILITIES

Counselling and Care Centre has one training room with a maximum seating capacity for 40 students, two multi-purpose rooms with each capacity of between six to eight students and another two multi-purpose rooms with an individual capacity between two to four persons. The air-conditioned rooms are equipped with the following training aids:

– Chairs with foldable writing tables
– Whiteboard and markers
– Flipchart board and papers
– TV and video-recording facilities
– LCD projectors

A library with a comprehensive collection of books, magazines and academic journals covering subjects such as counselling, family and systemic psychotherapy, clinical supervision and research methodology is available for students’ usage and reference. An area for reception cum refreshments and two restrooms are also available.
