About the Course

This Certificate course aims to introduce foundational systemic ideas that would promote an appreciation/ understanding of people, families, support networks and systems, from a relational lens and developmental life cycle perspective.

Trainees will be provided with an in-depth understanding of salient systemic concepts such as general systems theory, circularity, feedback loops, context (inclusive of wider social and cultural discourse), and appreciate how the family functions and organises itself during transitional points, that supports personal autonomy while maintaining togetherness.

Course Objectives

This course enables Trainees to:

  • Be equipped with a holistic approach in understanding complex issues beyond the presenting symptoms that are manifested in individuals and families.
  • Enhance Trainees with a deeper level of self-awareness and begin to develop greater self-reflexivity

Applicant Requirements

The course is relevant for social workers, counsellors, case managers and practitioners at entry level or any level of experience working with individuals and families.


Course Structure

Trainees will attend lectures together with the Post Graduate Certificate in Systemic Thinking and Approaches (PGC-STA) as this course is its 1st module. The course will be over 3 days and will cover the topics as shown below.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Trainees will be engaged in the learning process with lectures, small group discussions led by an experienced team of Therapists from CCC, and experiential exercises.

We are planning for the course to be conducted in our premises. However, in the event that the pandemic worsens and that we are unable to, we will conduct the training online via the zoom platform. We will make these arrangements as soon as there is clarity about what is safe.

Requirements for Completion

CST does not have an assignment component. However, to be awarded the Certificate in CST, the Trainees must attain at least 80% of attendance of the total course hours (21 Hours).
